Why are writers on strike?

Members of the WGA are on strike. Here’s what you need to know:

Writers are a vital component of the media industry. Without them you wouldn’t have your favorite comfort movie or your next binge.

Since the introduction of streaming services like @netflix and @hulu, the industry has been completely revolutionized. But, contracts for writers do not reflect the new business model and writers are struggling to survive.

Streaming is incredibly popular and the CEO’s of media powerhouses like @nbcuniversal, @wbpictures, and @disneystudios absolutely have the capability to provide a living wage for EVERYONE who works to produce their content. Instead of passing on the profits fairly to their employees, CEO’s and a fortune few continue to grow richer, while countless others work long days on set for less and less money

THIS IS NOT OKAY.
