Why are actors on strike?

SAG-AFTRA members are on strike, here’s what you need to know:

The top paid actors in Hollywood are obviously not hurting for cash, but what about the rest of the actors who are vital components of the film and television industry? A shocking amount can’t even make the $26,000 a year required to qualify for health insurance through SAG-AFTRA.

As streaming services continue to grow in popularity, who is keeping the billions of dollars in profits? The answer is certainly not actors. Without streaming residuals, and the increasing threat of AI eliminating the need to hire actors of all levels, it’s becoming harder and harder to make a livable wage. Actors deserve a fair chance to make a livable wage for their work.

What are actors and studios disputing over?

We stand in solidarity with @sagaftra and we thank actors for their incredible work bringing stories to life ❤️
